Rose of Sharon

The Rose of Sharon Church was chartered in the state of Texas in 1982 and has been overseen by Pastor Ernesto Rodarte throughout the last 27 years. The Church is a non-denominational Christian Church founded on Biblical principals, guided by the Holy Spirit, and taught as instructed by our Lord Jesus Christ, his Prophets, and Apostles We are a community church, which seeks to contribute and be part of our community.
History:
We come from a branch of El Faro, which was founded in 1974 by Pastor Andres Paschall, and congregated at the YMCA on Montana Street in Downtown El Paso.
In 1977, we left the YMCA and rented a building on the grounds of Loreto Academy. A congregational church was formed in January 1978 with Pastor Joe Salcido.
In January 21, 1979, Pastor Ernesto Rodarte was ordained and began his 1st pastorate in San Pablo Church on the outskirts of El Paso(Bella Vista community near Sunland Park.) He was a pioneer of Centro Vida-El Paso and Centro Vida-Juarez, where he did missionary work along with his wife Martha.
In May 3, 1979, Centro Vida Central on Alameda Street was opened and in May 4, 1984, The Rose of Sharon was started, a new independent church.
In 1984, we moved to North Loop and in 1985 the academy was started. in February 1987, we rented a part of Grace Methodist church.
In May 19. 1987, we moved to the current property where services were held in a tent which was later destroyed by a rainstorm.
Services were then held outdoors until the completion of the 1st Church/Academy building which was December 22, 1987.
The new building served as a multi purpose facility where weddings, quinceneras, dedications and school functions were held along with regular church services.
Ground was broken early in Febuary 2000 for the present day sancutuary, day care and gymnasium. Work was completed in late December of that year. A formal dedication service was held in December 10, 2000, Many were on hand to give thanks to the Lord for his provision and faithfulness.
The new facilities have allowed us to better serve our members and the community under the banner of Rose of Sharon Ministries
